The embroidered gold circle on the wearer's thigh is a mid-20th century vintage workwear detail, but it is a nod to Japans circle of the sun, symbolised in red on the Japanese flag. For MCU, it signifies a 100% made in Japan artisanal jean.
The fabric is a 12.5oz indigo stretch selvedge denim woven on narrow looms by an expert local mill in Kojima.
The Nara fit is a slim, slightly tapered contemporary fit, inspired by vintage garments from the 1960s.
